4 Simple Tips for a Stress-Free Visit

Preparing the Day Before Your Treatment

Walking into Butterfly Infusion for a new treatment can cause anxiety, but standard preparation makes a major difference. Use these tips to prepare for a smooth visit:

  • Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water the day before to plump up your veins, which makes IV placement much easier for your nursing team.

  • Eat Normally: Do not skip meals unless your healthcare provider gives you specific fasting instructions.

  • Dress Comfortably: Wear loose clothing with sleeves that roll up easily and bring a jacket since clinical spaces can feel chilly.

What Happens During Your Appointment

  1. Check-In & Vitals: An infusion nurse will welcome you, check your blood pressure and temperature, and review your current medications.

  2. Getting Settled: You will sink into one of our comfortable recliners, connect to our free patient Wi-Fi, and enjoy a complimentary beverage from our coffee bar.

  3. The IV Placement: The nurse will gently insert a tiny plastic catheter into a vein in your hand or arm, then connect it to the medication tubing.

  4. The Infusion Process: The medication flows slowly through an automated pump that controls the exact timing and dosage while you relax, surf the web, or read.

  5. Active Monitoring: Our clinical team will check on your vital signs at regular intervals throughout the session to ensure you are comfortable and side-effect-free.

  6. The Disconnection: Once the medication finishes, the nurse removes the tiny tube, applies a small bandage, and reviews your discharge instructions.
